5 years ago today, we bought The Oliver Inn Bed and Breakfast! Tom and I sold most of what we had, made a life change, and packed up our things and moved here to South Bend. We love being Innkeepers! Living in downtown South Bend is great. Fabulous dining and entertainment all within walking distance. Great museums and other family fun places, like Coveleski Stadium and the East Race!

Bicycle races, workshops, displays and a speech are some of the ways people can celebrate the Green Weekend downtown Friday and Saturday.
Green weekend activities kick off at the Century Center and Island Park, located at 120 South Saint Joseph Street. Friday’s festivities will include a very special Keynote Lunch & Learn*, A Green Workshop Series presented by local and regional business leaders and experts in the environmental sector, plus free exhibits offering green business and educational opportunities to all members of our community. We’ll wind down the day with a green celebration on Island Park where you are invited to join us for live music, food & drinks while surrounded by the beautiful St. Joseph River. All exhibits and workshops are free and open to the public. The biggest event Saturday probably will be the Eco Fest Criterium, a bicycle race featuring amateur and professional racers on streets in the neighborhood. Race registration opens at 10 a.m., and the cycling begins with the women’s open category at 11 a.m. Races will continue throughout the day. Our house is for the Birds! Today we sat in the gardens and watched several different finches, robins, blue jays, doves, nut hatches,cardinals, and many more swoop in and out, take turns at the feeders and chaperone their new born chicks all over the yard. It was so nice to sit and watch all the different birds interacting around us.
